Its closeness to nature and the experience. The room was very well kept and looks like you're staying in a tree house which we loved.
The food was fairly bland and not very flavorsome. My mum and I had beef and rice and we are sorry to say that it was very tough and chewy to eat and our omelette in the morning was very dry and plain. (We are sure that maybe we just got bad luck with this, this time). Thank you for your service and friendliness

We had a wonderful stay at Paganakan Dii Tropical Retreat Villa. The atmosphere was truly unique, with rustic rooms that opened up to the jungle. We loved listening to the sounds of nature from our small balcony. The staff were friendly and accommodating, ensuring that all our needs were met. The meals available were delicious, and we even had the chance to meet some wonderful families during our stay. we highly recommend this hotel for a truly immersive and memorable experience.

This truly is an amazing place to stay! I intended to stay only one night with the remainder of my time in Sandakan, however after only a day I changed my plans and spent several nights at Paganakan Dii. It's a perfect place to go and relax (whether in the dorms or in the private rooms) and is an easy distance from the orangutans at Sepilok, with free transportation provided. All staff are excellent and very helpful with suggesting places to see as there's lots to do in the surrounding area. Highly recommended!!!
The internet was down for a few days while I was there, but other than that no complaints at all.

Beautiful quiet location and rooms were great quality with stunning views to the bush. Very clean & tidy. Nice & close to Sepilok & Labuk Bay if you're planning on visiting. Much nicer than anywhere in town of Sandakan.
Staff were hit & miss - sometimes helpful & sometimes not at all. Some meals were fantastic & others were awful (avoid the fried rice - worst we've ever had!!). We saw other guests also struggling with their lack of assistance offered. Considering location, rooms & value for money we'd still go back :)

Laundry service quiet expensive for malaysian relations- but nevertheless fast and reliable.

The views were breathtaking and there was nothing around to spoil them. The free shuttle bus to the sanctuary was a great convenience. The hammocks provided a relaxing spot to unwind. I highly recommend this hotel for a unique jungle experience.

Superb setting. Facilities were great and the staff very helpful in assisting with organising trips and onward travel. Handy shuttle bus runs several times daily to and from Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary and the Rainforest Discovery Centre. Rooms were clean, tidy and comfortable. All in all, a great place to relax or use as a base for surrounding trips. Highly recommend.
Some sort of hot tub on the decking area would have been ideal to sit in and watch the lightning storms in the distance!!

I recently stayed at a tropical retreat villa and it was a magical experience from start to finish. The staff were incredibly helpful and attentive, they even picked us up from the bus junction for free. The transportation to and from the orangutan rehabilitation center was also conveniently provided at no extra charge. The breakfast was delicious and the other meals were reasonably priced. The retreat is situated in a quiet and relaxing environment surrounded by nature, which added to the overall charm of the place. I especially loved the spacious double bedroom with doors that could open on both sides, creating a bright and airy atmosphere. The open-air toilets were also a unique and enjoyable aspect of the room. The combination of fan and air-conditioning ensured a comfortable stay during both the day and evening. I can't forget to mention the kindness and warmth of the people working at the retreat, they truly made the experience unforgettable. I will definitely be recommending this place to others!
Nothing, all excellent! 👍
